I’m Craig. I live in Toronto, Canada. I worked for 22 years at what unarguably was Canada’s best mapping company, overseeing the production of their city maps. Maps have always engaged my imagination; even before I was paid to make them, I drew them as a kid, of real or mostly imaginary places. A number of my other interests dovetail with mapmaking, or more accurately, all of them do. When you’re creating imaginary places with your maps, everything else piles in too – travel, languages, photography, art, food, film, history, architecture, music – you don’t leave out any of that when creating a country. Some people create such places first in the written word; for me it starts with the drawn line and the gradual assembly of a map.
